I am a Consultant Psychiatrist with 25 years experience in Psychiatry, Psychological Medicine, Psychotherapy and in the field of assessment and care of Adults with ADHD.
I was born in Melbourne in 1956. I undertook my undergraduate medical degree at Melbourne University, 1974-79. After training for, and working in, General Practice, I undertook Post-Graduate training in Psychiatry, based in Melbourne 1987-1992. I attained the Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 1992. I began additional Psychotherapy training in 1997, with the Victorian Association of Psychotherapists, and completed this training in November 2002. I was accepted for VAPP Membership in April 2003.
I am a member of the United Kingdom Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN) having completed the UKAAN training in the assessment and treatment of Adult ADHD at the London Institute of Psychiatry.
I am also a member of the Australian Professionals Adult ADHD network (AUSPAN) organisation, and the co-convenor of the Victorian Adult ADHD Interest Group.
My interest is in Adult General Psychiatry, and particularly in the care of Adult ADHD and its complications.
More About Dr. Peter
While working as a Family Doctor, I became increasingly interested in the emotional lives of my patients to the point where I decided to specialise in Psychiatry.
I am a long-standing member of the Victorian Association of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists and a member of the United Kingdom Adult ADHD Network ( UKAAN)
I am experienced in the assessment and care of those with adulthood Attention Deficit Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Veterans Psychiatry, Chronic Pain Syndrome, Bipolar Disorder, Alcoholism and the Psychoses.
I have extensive experience in therapy with patients with family and relationship issues, grief and loss, childhood trauma, workplace physical and emotional injury, including PTSD, and Veterans psychiatry.
I offer Supervision in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy for Mental Health Professionals.
I live on the Mornington Peninsula in Victoria, and work in private practice at Langwarrin, in Melbourne’s Southeast, and am Consultant Psychiatrist and Psychotherapist with Southeastern and The Valley Private Hospitals based in Melbourne’s South-East.
I have a commitment to regional, rural and remote community mental health services.
My personal interests include family, travel through regional and remote Australia, a home orchard and tending the backyard chooks.
